120114 Chestnut Avenue

Wasp ovipositing. From the round head, neck and club-like tibia, I thought it was Gasteruptiidae, but apparently there is another family, Stephanidae, which looks like this. Stephanidae antenna are thin, as are this wasp’s, so it’s probably a closer match.

The ground was crawling with marauder ants. The much larger major workers carry the smaller workers.

This longhorn beetle is pretty common at Chestnut avenue.

Strange orb weaver that resembles the one seen at Venus Drive.

Herennia ornatissima, ornamental tree trunk spider. Been quite a while since I last saw one.

Salticid with freshly laid eggs.

A tiny but beautiful spider. It looked like a jewel.

Assassin bug with katydid prey.
